Scaling faster with systems thinking

Our mission

A 0 to 1 initiative that required shipping four branded RV apps, Entegra, Jayco, Thor and Keystone, from one shared codebase across iOS and Android.

Every app shares the same features and flows. What changes is the brand: its theme, content, media, knowledge base and RV database.

Teams with a shared system ship faster

Without a shared source of truth, design and code drift apart. For us, that cost multiplies: 1 change × 2 platforms × 4 brands = 8 manual updates, each a chance for inconsistency.

A shared system turns it around. Teams build faster, time goes back into real problems, and a new brand becomes a theme, not a rebuild.

We track the payoff in time to theme a feature, design-to-dev review cycles, and visual bugs caught in QA.

Stage: Research

Stage: Prepare

Stage: Testing

Stage: Scale

We looked at how Figma variables, AI tools and token pipelines could connect design into code, without more manual work.

We settled on a way of working: shared files both teams can build from, and constant collaboration instead of one-way handoff.

Piloted right away in the new app, theming real features in all four brands to validate the workflow.

A design system is never done. As we roll it out to more apps, both teams keep maintaining and strengthening it together.

What makes it work

Four critical pieces keep design and engineering in lockstep.

Figma variables

Brand values live in Figma and drive every design. The challenge was getting them to engineering intact.

Design.md

A shared source of truth that sets the rules for building components and styles as well as guiding ideation.

Ai-powered

With DESIGN.md and README.md as context, AI tools build in the codebase and keep it governed as it grows.

Collaboration

Design and engineering work from the same files, so front-end builds stay true to design and handoff friction disappears.
